I found a nice open source tool Open Asset Logger to find the asset information in a network. Open Asset Logger is based on the freeware WMI Asset Logger. It can be downloaded from the link: http://sourceforge.net/projects/openassetlogger/
After installation when we run it, it automatically detects the available network domains and workgroups.
After selecting the domain, it displays the available computers in the domain
Now I can click on the computer name to display the different information like:
Excel report:
HTML report:
or we can directly print this report. It also supports other export types.
Also it has option to send the result directly through email.
We can also search for computers within a particular IP range
This is a nice cool utility and could be helpful for managing assets and computer information.
